IDEC IN NEW YORK

Moored just a short distance from the Statue of Liberty since yesterday, the IDEC trimaran has been attracting a lot of attention from curious pedestrians walking alongside the Manhattan Sailing Club Marina. Francis Joyon arrived in New York without any hitch, bringing the boat here all by himself.

"Although I’m not usually very on urban landscapes, I must admit that here there’s every reason to be impressed," Francis Joyon explained on the phone. Between the Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero, just 200 metres from her bows, the IDEC trimaran is resting in the shelter of North Cove Marina, and making the most of her first New-York stopover.

"I arrived yesterday around noon local time, and the authorities helped me bring the boat in to the harbour and moor up. Someone came on board to give me a hand, and the club’s large RIB helped with manoeuvring her. That was just as well, as by myself, it would have been quite tough."

Indeed, in the end, Francis sailed his giant trimaran from Saint Martin to the American metropolis all by himself. «I set out with a gentle wind behind me, and then for quite some time I had to struggle upwind in a thirty-knot flow, which now means I’ve got some little jobs to do, as this type of condition always leads to one or two little things getting broken, but there’s no serious damage.»

For the moment, the skipper is tidying things up on board, while on the quayside, people are gathering to take a look at the big red trimaran. "I’m surprised," Francis added, "as lots of people are coming to see me, and clearly, they know about the boat. I would never have guessed that, and it’s rather nice. In fact, for the time being, I’m spending quite a bit of time talking to the inquisitive strollers.»

The official stand-by period will begin as planned on the tenth of April, but for the moment, after talking things over with his router, Jean-Yves Bernot, it would appear that it is unlikely there will be a window of opportunity for the time being.

Y yo vuelvo a acordarme del hijo p*** del tripu, que no me dejó hablar con el Francis un día en que sacaban a navegar a empleados de IDEC desde Pto Sherry...

Yo es que soy la hostia, entrandole a un francesito melenudo, en ingles gaditano...

Bueno y por canarias, en Las Palmas, acaba de arribar el Aquitain Innovatios de Yves Parlier, hara unos test por las islas en busca de tentativa de record de distancia en 24 horas.

Jajajaja hoy me he atrevido a decirle al equipo, que me encontre desembarcando del barco, me ofrecia a ayudar en esos test, alrededor de las islas, o porque no, una navegacion....
que se yo hasta Bermudas

Pero me da que no va a ser posible aunque siempre queda la posibilidad de con el mejor ron canario

Bueno y de invitarles a navegar en mi barquita
